About Blog
Sparrows and lilies is taken from the verse Matthew 6:25-34. It's one of my favorite verses as well as one of my favorite songs by Pat Barrett. But I didn't always like this verse. Every time I read "do not worry," it sounded like a nice Hallmark card instead of God's words. Will my worries really go away? Does God really care about me that much? He cares about birds and flowers... so what? But as I learned more about the truth of who God is "sparrows and lilies" became more than just a catchy verse phrase. God fills all our needs. He is our main source of security, sustenance, and satisfaction. In Him we know our full worth and value. We are fully known and lavishly provided by our Creator. This blog is a journey to know more about our Creator and my journey in finding who I am in Him. I'm always learning new things about His love for us each day.
I write down my prayers every morning. I write the most when words can't come out of my mouth, when I'm in great distress, sorrow, and a whirlwind of emotion. I pick out the ones I think will help people the most (I don't know, hopefully it helps haha). I hope my prayers will inspire many to be vulnerable before God in all circumstances. He listens to us when we are having a great day and when we are an absolute mess.
This was the original inspiration of creating a blog. I wanted to do thorough research on certain topics and verses and see how I can apply it to my life. Digging deeper into the word consequently means digging deeper into our own hearts.
Constant trust, denying self, and a moldable heart. I always find a new part of me that needs work on surrendering fully to Christ.
All my heart issues that I'm constantly being refined in. Heart work is hard work.
"Who I Am" Series (WIP)
This has been in the works for awhile - a series of verses from each book in the Bible focusing on what God says about us. Perfect for the insecure heart that needs words of affirmation from the Creator Himself.
